Kacang Puteh used to be a common sight in Singapore up till the early 90s. It is a favourite snack for locals - from children and couples at theme parks, to movie-goers and football fans at matches. Although Kacang Puteh means ‘White Nuts’ in Malay, it comes in a variety of colourful nuts, beans and peas served in the iconic tall paper cones. Kacang Puteh sellers in the past mostly came from South India. Today, it is a disappearing trade.
